Men’s Breakfast – what’s been and what’s on

We are in our 12th year, and still active in this ever expanding, diverse village of ours., We have some great speakers lined up once a month on the 3rd Saturday at Willingham Baptist Church, George Street.

We are a down-to-earth bunch of men, mixed age groups, some Christian, some exploring, who congregate around 7:45 for a hearty cooked English Breakfast we can call the Classic Breakfast, with as much as you can eat and Tea, Coffee, Juice to drink, all for the princely sum of £2.50.

There then is about half an hour or so of chat and catching up followed by an interesting or topical talk, Q and A and a message to leave with; we end with a short prayer. We finish around 0900 hrs, and those who need to get off can do so, others can stay and chat or have an opportunity to offload a concern or share an anecdote.

We have had some challenging and fascinating topics and not only have covered men’s issues such as health eg prostate cancer; Men as Dads’s ; Men at work; Men as fathers, but some have shared their story at how their faith has moulded their lives for the better, such as in Farming;  as a Mission Aviation Fellowship pilot in Africa; In the IT business; in the construction Industry and Engineering, and a host of other roles.

We arrange the occasional outing, it usually involves a bit of walking sometimes serious most times – ambling, oh  and food, not necessarily in that order !

Next year we hope to have speakers talking about their Dad’s or Grandparents, and have another joint trip with fellow Breakfaster’s from St Martin’s group in Cambridge. ( This year we went to Lavenham for the day; and had a joint Men and Ladies Breakfast last February to give Richard and Debbie a good send off as they embarked on moving to Othona (the Christian Retreat) in Essex.

So lots happening and to look forward to, whether you are able to join us once a month, once a quarter or annually, you will be made most welcome.
